The off-campus students’ project was developed 3 years ago after it was identified that retention and achievement levels at university were being affected by whether students chose to live at home rather than move into student housing. This group also intersects strongly with mature students, student parents and student carers who are given their own focus within the project.

The HEA has also provided information on Mindful Assessment Design, along with a proforma to be used alongside this framework. There is also an assessment grid to enable you to audit your assessments, and a set of cards to help you redesign your assessments.
There are many options for providing written feedback one students’ work, but it can sometimes be difficult to find the right words for what you want to say. ThingLink allows you to upload images with embedded information points, which can then be used to provide mixed-media feedback. In this video, Richard Prince explains how he uses this system.

Delivered in partnership with the Higher Education Academy (HEA) this masterclass on Assessment and Feedback aims introduce academic staff to the key principles behind developing effective assessment and feedback in ways that are both sustainable and manageable and will encourage different ways of thinking about assessment design.

Dr Harish Thampy (Associate Lead for Assessment, MBChB Programme) will deliver this seminar exploring recent advances and innovations in the field of assessment.
Our priority for July and August is Assessment and Feedback. The development activities for this session will explore how to prepare meaningful and effective assessments and how to provide students with useful feedback.

- Give you a brief introduction to ThingLink in a 1 minute CPD video. This online tool allows you to provide meaningful feedback that is not limited to text alone.
